WHATCH YOUR FINGERS
i was attacted by Chris Salters D at Lttle Horwood yesterday(DS/SM ralley), which lopped the tip of my little pinky off, so have now named his D christian TEA HE,
up to that point i had a wounderfull weekend, and it was good to meet quite a number of the FCF'ees,
lots of very nice cars turned up

Glad to hear that you’re all right malcolm, I saw the commotion, but was not enirely sure what happened.
It was good to meet you at the event, I hope its not put you off fixing any D's in the future.
Wishing your finger a speedy recovery.

Crikey I never realised that you were the victim, I heard of what had happened and that the person lived in Sussex but didn't make the link as I was told the victim was working on his own DS, hopefully you're over the worst of the shock and now recovering well. Did they manage to re-attach your pinky?

Hi Malcolm,
So sorry to hear what happened
I guess the fan was the cause? I was thinking how dangerous fans on older vehicles are when I was under the bonnet of Mick's Traction
Hope MK Hospital looked after you well. They're not bad at all there and if you are unfortunate to fall victim and need such services, Milton Keynes is perhaps the place to be
I have plenty of experience of MK A&E one way or another
Get well soon Malcolm!

no it was not the fan, but got my fingers caught between the fan belts and pullys, i was turnning CHRISTIAN over by hend to line up the points cam in the dizzy, and had not noticd i was leaning on the starter solanoid attached to the battery, my first thought was to look in the car through the screen to see what twt was crancking her over, but there was no one in the car,
the engine crancked over several time before i managed to get clear, and it was only then i saw i had been leaning on the solanoid
but placeing all the dramma to one side the weekend was brill, with a lot of very very tasty cars
kind regards
malcolm

I've had that happen to me a few times due to the car having the wrong battery fitted when I bought it where the terminals were the wrong way around leading to the button on the bottom of solenoid hanging over the battery rather then alongside it. Fitting the correct battery has resolved the problem as there is now open space below the solenoid button so if I happen to lean on the solenoid nothing happens.citronut wrote:and had not noticed I was leaning on the starter solenoid attached to the battery

when we went back with/in the break down truck (car break down that is) to collect my car, Nigel wild showed me his little finger on his left hand, which he had back in i belive 1985 chopped off a very simular amount of said pinky whilst closing a trailer tail gate,
he asured me he dose not even notice it missing now
