Peugeot 406 HDI turbo replacement

Can anyone tell me the easiest and most practical way to remove the KKK turbo from a 2002 406 2.0 HDI. Not a lot of space for working at the back of the engine. :(
The turbo leaks oil onto the steering rack, and there is oil inside the air intake pipes. The engine smokes white and blue when opening the throttle after the engine has been ticking over for about 4 mins. It runs fine otherwide and goes really well with no smoke going up hills etc. It has done approx 90,000 miles.
I have checked the obvious like blocked breather and the turbo oil return pipe and no probs there.

It's an old post so it may have been fixed but for anyone else here is my two pence worth: It's not easy if you have no experience working on transverse engines. It is a common fault with that mileage for cars that have
not been driven with subtle care with Turbos. The seals are weeping and it will only get worse until you replace it. If you are doing it in your garage you need to drop the subframe, from thereon it's easy to work on with the car up on stands. Driven well these can last over 150,000 miles and more.
(1) Always use the correct Oil and change the oil filter as often as you can.
(2) Check the small line filter to the Turbo - clean it.
(3) When ever you stop the vehicle especially after a long hard run let it cool off on idle for 5 mins before switching off every time.
(4) Never ever use flushing oil.
(5) Ensure the Air filter is checked often.

Thanks for that Jaunty 2. But I hve done the job months ago and found a much simpler way to do the job without removing the suspension and manifold etc.
First of all I bought a rings and bearing kit for the turbo. If anyone does this make sure it is a double oil hole bearing type as a VW type is similar, but with a single oil lole bearing.
I removed the turbo by firstly jacking the front of the car up and supporting it on axle stands.
Remove plastic cover under engine and on top of engine.
Remove -
All air pipes from turbo.
Vacum pipe from turbo.
Lying under the car take off the bracket holding the turbo to the block.
Take off clip and disconnect the rod from the wastegate.
Get a good quallity 10 mm combination spanner and remove the 4 bolts holding the the turbine part (alloy) from the (cast steel) exhaust side.
Take off the oil inlet pipe from the block. Get a container to hold dripping oil. Take off the 2 bolts holding the oil return from bottom of turbo.
Then remove the turbine part of the turbo off the casing. It might need a light tap to losen it.
I cleaned everything off, marked the possition of both tubline wheels. Marked possition of casing and strippet the turbine unit down.
The problem with my turbo was carbon around piston ring on the exhaust part of the turbine which let oil into the exhaust.
Anyway I fitted new rings and replaced the bearing and put it back together being carefull to line up the marks etc. Lubricate well with synthetic engine oil.
Replacement is the reversal except that you will have to hold one of the bottom bolts holding the turbo onto the casting with a wire wrapped around it while turning it with the spanner as there is not a lot of room for your fingers.
There might be a few things that I have not mentioned as it is 8 months now since I did the job and it works fine with no smoky exhaust. And oil consumption has been zero while driving the last 9000 miles.
Hope this will be of some use to other people that might have the same problem with their car.
