update on my stalling problem
Tightened up the throttle cable to keep the revs higher but after a while it started wavering up and down then settled at the usual idle speed so i'm starting to think its something to do with the fuel line somewhere.
Do you think i'm on the right track ?

sounds a bit like the aux air valve has given up, does it start with the throttle cable set as it should be without using the throttle, ie just turning the key?

Hi soccerboss
how did all this start? did it come on suddenly or worsen over time?, will it rev freely when it does start?, and does it run rough at all?

Ive just seen your other thread, i would be inclined to follow Jims advise and pay attention to the air temp/mass sensor, the MAP sensor and Aux air/idle valve it does sound like a fuel or air metering problem rather than just fuel starvation.
When you say you had the manifold replaced did you mean the exhaust manifold as that would be more likely to fail, ive never seen an inlet manifold cracked so check its gaskets and that it is done up tightly and not loose.
Also does it start to miss and splutter (run rough).

When you do get it to run, can you rev the engine or does it just die when you use the throttle or is slow or totaly unresponsive to any throttle input. What do you mean rev freely and 'run through'?

Yep it is sounding more and more like the aux air valve, with age they get dirty and sticky, take it off and wash it through with some WD40 and a small (very small) brush open and close the valve inside as you do this to get all the muck out then once clean and dry drip a little light oil in, you should find, as Jim has already said that it will work fine for a few weeks/ months after but if cleaning does make a difference then that is the culprit and it is best to get another. They are usualy abou £50 to £90 depending on the type of valve.
Of course the best and most definitive course of action would be to get any fault codes read off the ecu but if this isnt possible for whatever reason the aux air valve is a good place to start given the nature of the problem.
