Foglight Removal Xantia HDI

Post by jmd »

Has anybody got any advice on removing a foglight (offside) There are 3 bolts holding it in place the lower one is no problem, and the one on the side of the wing troublesome to a lesser extent. However the top inner bolt seems almost impossible. Definately the manufacturers never considered that a replacement would ever be necessary. At this stage I have removed the headlamp, but have not succeeded in getting any closer to a solution. Any advice gratefully appreciated

Officially it is a bumper off job. I found I could access the fogs by removing the front grille and lamp units and then you can reach down to the fogs. A torch may be useful.

Yes, taking the headlamps out is the quickest way in, other than that it's bumper off. :(
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

Thanks for the advice. Removed one headlamp & it was still "a bumber off job". Well partly off - loosened one side of the Bumber & pulled it our about six inches. Although I managed to looses the bolts on removing the headlight, the problem was to remove the old lamp & inserting the new one. So it was necessary to partly pull out the bumber. Job done. Lets hope it is not necessary to do this again. Replacement Lamp = € 120-00 here in Ireland. Fortunately I had a lamp from my now partly scrapped 99 Xantia.
