406 1.8, not starting at all.

Post by gaz4053 »

Hi all you techy peeps, my brother-in-law has a 406 1.8 petrol,Yreg, and it is turning over, but not starting. Apparently, it was running ok one day, the next day.....nowt! He's tried the usual.....it has petrol! A pal of his changed the coil pack, but still nowt. I haven't tried anything yet, as I was told it could be the camshaft or crankshaft sensor. Looked on t'internet, and only a crankshaft sensor applies to his model....is this right? The next question is, where is it located? Is it easy to change?

Thanks in advance,

Gaz

Immobiliser issue maybe? Have you tried both keys? My old folks 406 often refused to start, and it was down to an immobiliser fault.
