XUD Injectors
Stuck in the block !
Is it OK to heat the block around the injector to get it free?
Any other ideas?

Block or head!??
I guess you mean the Head.. The head is alloys, and injectors steel.. anyhow, over tightening can cause thread crossing, Ive had a few like this and the only thing I did was use a T bar and a huge extension bar and slowly forced them out with great care, only to leave the threads in the head crossed and in a mess...
A solution? I didn't have one, but as it was a car I was using myself, I put the APPROPIATE injector BACK in the port I took them out.. I seemd to have got away with it back then..
My bottom line is though, they can only be cross threaded in place

i agree on the t deep box, will very much help, factory install, it is unlucky if you have then cross thread yours
don't use world famous wd 40, it is not for thread you want to reuse
grease spray is okay
it can cause your thread to be loose next time you reuse
thread maker, it may help second time you put it in
last resort - if you damage it
if you have proper tool, try to use drill and loctite, put new thread

Which is the only proper method ...Peter.N. wrote:You need a proper socket and as suggested a long bar, something about four to five feet.
The injectors may be like welded into the alloy.
And would easily require torque figures in excees of 1000Nm to free up ...
Such torque figures requires the correct tools to prevent damage to parts - and yourself

A job best done when engine is hot?......I would think so. I try never to remove plugs of any kind on a cold engine.

NO X threads! How interesting! There must have been some alloy pitting, or steel rusting to have held them in that tight!?crossy2425 wrote:Injectors are out
Large bar and a bit off force.
No x threads.
Well done anyway, and even better with no cross threads! You'll probably find that they may very well screw bck in by hand to the bottom... Ive had that before.. And then just needing the deep socket and extension bar to nip them up tight..

I did exactly this job on a BX n/a diesel a couple of years ago.
The steel-made injectors sits unbelieveable tight in the alloy cylinder head after many years.
Not just beacuse steel in alloy, but because of the rather large diameter thread size.
Note : its the injector carriers, not the actual injector bit, that seizes in the alloy head.
