Battery for xantia's

Post by KennyW »

Good Afternoon Gang,

Looking for suggestions of a good battery for Xantia,my one recently died and this is not helping my starting problems.

My old one is Bosch 6C but i recently read a frineds bosch catalogue and it shows for my xantia it should be the 5 series ie A or B or C

Any thoughts.

Hi Kenny -

You may find a huge range of batteries suitable for your Xantia.
Living in UK mainland does not imply any special requirements in terms of crank power or such.
That would be more an issue over here in DK, or up north in Sweden and Norway.

Meaning any suitable 66Ah or 75Ah size battery with a crankpower of some 420A will do the job very well.
If you do some research you will soon find out its the crankpower Amperage that loads your mole the most ...
Not the brand of the battery ...

Hi, As a satisfied customer I can recommend Exide battery :D .
You can give a try to the selection guide to find the suitable type:

Thanks for the replies, it confirmed what I was thinking about cranking power.

I can recomment Tayna http://www.tayna.co.uk/ for car and motorcycle batteries. Excellent service and pricing, delivered to your door quickly.

Their website has a search to locate a suitable one.

Halfrauds do several batteries that can fit the 2.0 litre 8v turbo Xantia I.E. the Activa, the car I have, they are listed here.

I agree with AndersDK about the fact that in our warmer weather here, that we might not need the high power batteries that are essential in Denmark, or Norway, and Sweden.

Although recently I needed a battery quickly after persistent battery problems, and was fed up with the grief it had caused, when you wanted to go somewhere, and the car let me down, and yes I had been putting off doing the job for a while.

So I fitted this one to avoid any future problems, also as I have a Halfrauds trade discount card, so I could buy the more powerful calcium battery with a longer life, and warranty, at less than the price of the standard lead acid one.

When you can get something better at a cheaper very affordable price, then it's too good an offer to miss, note they also come with a lifting strap, which greatly helps the task of lifting them.

If memory serves, with the Halfrauds' trade card, the difference between the normal and calcium batteries (for the 1.9TD at least) is only £5, and as you say, at £54 it's still cheaper than the standard battery without the trade card.

Well I bought the one shown in my previous post in the 2nd link which should retail at the price shown £99.99, and the price paid with the discount card was less than the lead acid standard battery at the bottom of the list, in the first link, which is a significant saving.

I would have to find the receipt to check exactly how much the saving was, but IIRC it was in the region of approx over £40.00.
