Having got the required supplies for the above job i am in need of some advice on the locations of the bleed valves on said engine
I have done the job on the 1.9D and TD but have been unable as yet to identify the bleed valves on this engine
All help/advice readily accepted

This picture is from the 2.0 8v, hopefully not too different.
Item 2, of which it shows two, has the heater hose attached to the right-side one.
The left one is a metal hex head, and I’ve never had air coming out of it, so haven’t opened it for years.
My prize is that it’s now seized, and attempts to loosen it turns the press-fit into the thermostat housing, with the risk of leaks; so I leave it well alone.
The important one is item 13, but it only vents after the thermostat has opened.
Early vintage Mk I’s had a vent on top of the heater hose near the LHM tank.
The highest vent is on the outlet pipe from the matrix.
After filling the expansion tank, I only vent at the heater hose first time that I start the car to go somewhere … no testing or checking or topping up of any sort.
The thermostat vent gets it turn before switching off at arrival.
More venting and topping up gets done over the following days.
The vents may just be tyre valve caps.
Loosening them by one turn is enough, and better than losing them.
I drive around with the pressure cap loose at the first stop.
Glycol doesn’t simmer, so it doesn’t evaporate, and the system cannot get pressurised.
We get 30ºC every day for three months here, and no overheating or spillovers ever.

These pictures are from my Xantia and I have added red arrows showing bleed valves.
The top one is on the heater matrix hose (Engine room).
I can see from Cloggz's picture that in 8V the thermostat housing is a little bit different than in 16V.
