The glowplug relay sits above the battery bolted onto the nearside wing
- a big blue box about 2" x 3" you can't miss it. Not much to go wrong really;
check your connections!!

Cx Basis shows a black unit mind and IIRC I've seen differing versions:

http://cx-basis.de/eshop/product_info.p ... ts_id=1556

More likely the glowplugs themselves or the wires that are in series between
them - if you don't have good contacts on ALL of them it'll be a PITA to start
when cold. Running the time longer on the glowplugs than the actual dash
bulb helps too. When it's really bitterly cold I usually run the time just past
the white light on the oil level clicking off and the gauge dropping from Max.

They show the best angles.

The other side still needs a bit of repair in one area, so i havent got the rear black rubbing strip on!

Oh, Where did you get that from? Ive seen that car, ive got a picture of it!

It was a couple of years ago when i saw it, looked quite tidy but not as good as the seller said, it seemed very expensive too.

Ive not read through all of your blogs thread, but how did you come by it? Probabaly from the same seller after it had been stood in a field for a couple of years?

I got it from ebay in about march last year.
I would be interested in any info you have on it though.

I know it used to belong to a guy called richard who frequents the ccc forums.

It does have an absolute mass of history for it, including the original sales invoice.

I saw it in 2008 ...

It was for sale at Wolsey House Motors for pretty much all of 2008, ive dug out an old Citroenian from April 2008 where is advertised, it was still advertised in the later issues and i saw it in November.

The advert states a "solid straight usable car" for £1995.

Here is is:

Image

Ok so thats not it! This is ...

It looked quite tidy when i saw it, though it was parked in a field amongst very long grass. There was a bit of rust around the rear if i remember rightly, under the boot panel too possibly. I dont have a close picture of the back though.

It had obviously been stood there a while, as to get it out many Xms, Zxs, BXs and all kinds of things would need to be moved, many of those looked like they had been sat for a good while, flat tyres, moss etc.

I seem to remember Danny at WHM saying how clean a car it was, he showed us inside it too. It did look really nice, i remember saying its a shame to have it stood outside. Obviously a year or so in a field didnt do the underside much good ...

I drove down to WHM to see a 95 Xm 2.5TD estate advertised as a very good car, it was awful, not worth bothering with let alone the money being asked.

I guess the person you got it from or Richard bought it from WHM.

Fantastic news!! :D :D :D

It really is a shame to see all those in the field without at least some kind of underside and roof protection :(

Sadly there were many many cars looking far worse, most had been there for 4 years at the time. Some were getting totally lost in the shrubs and trees, Xms and CX Safaris getting devoured by the scenery!

Sad really, I think a some have been broken now, going by the ebay ads.
Though i suspect the Xm we went to see had been a field find, moldy seats etc. Not good.

Thats great info!
I didnt know it had been through WHM
certainly something I can add to the history folder, im not sure on most peoples definition of solid, but judging by how my sheet of metal has shrunk I think it may have been slightly unwarrented.

Its had plenty of previous welding done!

I think the guy I got it from must have got it from WHM, as it kind of explains the gap in the cars history.

Its much more solid now anyway!
The only downside I have found is that i have to use these places called petrol stations :(

Ill soon change that

I see that Danny had a fair old amount of Cit's outside - did you go in the barns with all the CXs...it's quite a sight to see! 8-)

Those few pictures dont begin to show the amount of cars or the condition some were in. There were numerous S2 V6 Xantias, lots of CXs, some Ds, etc but probably mostly Xms. There was even a S1 Activa, in dark grey - ive not seen another S1 this colour.

I hope some have found homes and are back on the road now. I did have a brief look in the shed, he really had/has some cars! Did you see the two Cxs at the front of the house? Stood to the side in the garden, looks like they had just arrived in from the shops, 10-15 years ago! I liked that, but its a shame that some cars might be getting lost. But still, there might not be the demand for them on the market.

Im glad i could be of help with a bit of your cars history Dave.

I actually think most cars advertised there were not up to the standard they were being sold for, the one i went to see certainly wasn't. Top end prices dont mean good cars. Totally fascinating to look around, i could have spent all day just looking!

Oh yes, Danny has got many a Citroen. Dad's known him for a a good while and he's had Cit's for a long while.
When he last spoke to him he said he was really busy with XMs and would start getting some CXs done soon - there's some appearing in his CCC ad I see.
I think that his CX count was around 30+! 8-)
