drivers side engine mount

Post by citroen7 »

found some time yesterday to start work on the xantia i bought recently so started with the engine mount ,top part of bracket off jack underneath then it got tricky the mount has broken so i know have to try and hold the the rest of the mount still and undo the nut but because the bottom part of the mount is rubber and flexible i cannot get the nut to turn ,i have tried wedging it and even a pair of mole grips without sucess so any tips?
also can i use the mount i retrieved of the 405 i have just scrapped although it is slightly different in design it seems to be the same.
thanks.

Diesel mountings allways used to be softer, but you may be right. If its physically the same, check the stiffness of the rubber. Most XUD mountings are very similar.
