Hydraflush....now have leak

Post by StevieM »

Folks,

Posted further down ref pinion leak for Xantia.
-
It has occured to me that my pinion leak has only occurred since the replacement of LHM with Hydraflush approx 4 weeks ago.
-
Is there a chance that there may be a difference in viscosity between Hydraflush/LHM, and if less viscous, could this be the reason my pinion is leaking from the top????
-
I have only run 500 miles on Hyrdaflush so far.
-
So, has anyone else experienced new leaks using Hyraflush????
-
Am tempted to purge it out, replace all with fresh LHM to see if cures.
-
Please comment if you can.

Many Tks, Steve

Hi Steve

I think any talk of the thinner Hydrarincage causing leaks is nothing more than coincidence in my opinion, as the seals harden and wear with age they are bound to leak at some point its just this time it happened after a fluid change, i have run Hydrorincage twice and over 5000miles and i never had any leaks appear.
Sorry probably not what you wanted to hear :( :D

It`s more likely that the Hydra has cleand the debris that may have benn giving you a seal. It has done you a favour really by showing you the defect. I would make a plan to fix it.

Has anyone tried these sealing treatments in their LHM:-

-
or:-

-
Or is this a bad idea......the Wynns version shows compatible with LHM.

Hey Steve..........You seem determined to do everything but fix this

All these things are stop gaps. They are get you home temporary things in my book. I`ve never put any of that kind of stuff in any of my many cars. The only excusable one is to put it in coolant to delay a heater matrix job on a Xantia.

Drained all Hydra flush out today, cleaned out reservoir/filters with petrol, fresh lhm, bled all brakes.
I gave the steering good thrash back/forth approx 20 times while up on stands...no hint of any leaks.....suspect due not working very hard with wheels in the air.
-
Car down...3 point turn in road...I was right...dribbling again.
-
Immediately ordered pinion valve (Martin @ Pleiades)...determined to fix this now.

Many thanks for your comments....much appreciated, Steve
