In market for newer cheapish diesel car and did a c5 51 plate hdi 136 and passat 99 t plate tdi 110 back to back test drive [about 1/2 hour after one another]. C5 looked tons better and plenty more gadgets, tdi passat pulled just as well as c5 and felt a little more directly connected to the motor compared to c5 witch was more hmm electrically smooth?
Passat had the starting of some rust in places and was priced at 2100 with 92k were the c5 had just passed the 100k with a fresh cambelt and not a mark for 1800 cash. Got to be the c5 as it had a much more mercedes like look and feel!

Sounds like you made a good choice, the C5 is a lot of car for the money.
If its a looked after one and you look after it you should have a very hassle free car there.
Welcome to C5 ownership!
