Aha, thank you Mike.

I had looked at Service Citroen and found the size of the original bolt.

M6x16mm with a 1.00mm thread pitch

Have been searching in the garage for a tap but think its a lost cause in there

Did you say you had a tap and die set?

Malcolm, the problem is there is some of the bolt that refuses to come out. We have drilled most of it out but there is some left in there and so thinking the best course of action is a rethread.

just drill it out slightly bigger as its not a crucial componant, precise acuracy is not required,

Thanks for the thread size and pitch - I do have that size tap. Toby did drill most of it out but I didn't want it going too large to preserve the hole size - might as well keep it original if possible, is my reasoning. I did consider the nut and bolt strategy and will use it if the tapping doesn't work out so at least we have a fall back.

Toby, when's convenient for me to come over?

Indeed, if all else fails then nut and bolt it is.

Any morning is good Mike. Though would need to finish up around 12 for me to get to work. Work all day Saturday (7-6 ) But should be free Sunday or Monday again.

Whichever suits you Mike....

Will try to find some bolts the correct size from somewhere

Depending on if I can find some bolts for then. Am going to look at the local surplus stores but don't hold out much hope.

There's not a lot in the way of places that sell fasteners in Ringwood.

I will let you know Mike

We can still get the thread tapped, bolt or not. I've certainly got a collection so may have some that will fit - you need two if I remember correctly.

Thanks for that vote of confidence Malcolm
