Xsara HDi Fuel Gauge

Folks,
7 month old Xsara HDI (my Parents' car). Fuel gauge is behaving erratically - it has done this before and been for a replacement sender unit at the dealer. Anybody know how it works, and if it can be cured, or is it a 'design feature'?

sorry RICHARD ,you cant do anything with tips i wrote. only your dealer can ,with LEXIA diagtool .

Got exactly the same problem with my '99 Xsara. Fuel guage is pretty much useless... if you start on a hill, it will not go back to the correct level when you get to a flat section of road. It will continue to display the false reading. As blueboy2001 said, the only way to fix it is to fill the tank up completely.

check to see if your car needs the fuel gauge configuration update,sometimes it can be corrected by disconecting the battery while the ignition is switched ON,leave for a few minutes then re-connect it again with the ignition still ON.
