Hydractive 2 Normal/Sport change parameters

Post by FrenchLeave »

I promised to publish the hydractive normal/sport change conditions. The figures produced here are for the XM but I'm sure that the Zant and its progeny the Activa will be very similar.

For anyone interested, there are four controlling parameters; brakes, steering, acceleration and body movement. The info I have is a photocopy of the original manual and by the time I had printed that off, photocopied the print and then loaded it onto photobucket it was unreadable. I've reproduced the tables but sorry, no graphs - if you want them you'll have to draw your own from the tables.

Not wishing to hog the forum's bandwidth I've decided to produce them one at a time. The braking condition is easy, the suspension changes to firm if car speed is above 15 mph and brake pressure is greater than 3 bar.

Here are the steering tables:

I did write that it was like knitting with cigarette smoke

Acceleration table to follow.

Here is part 2, dealing with hydractive reponse to acceleration/deceleration, measured by rate of throttle opening/closing. I've increased the spacing to make it more readable:

For anyone who is plotting the graphs of all these functions, the lines are plotted in discrete steps rather than smooth lines.

I think there is a fault in the braking response in my last posting. The brake pressure valve opens at 30 bars so I think the switch to firm will take place at 30 instead of 3 bars, in other words the suspension will firm up under moderate to heavy braking.

Is there anyone still awake out there?

D'you mean the reference to braking in the other thread?

Interesting data so far; nice to see it demystified!

Cheers, Adam.

Hi Adam, no, para 3 of my initial post.

I've tried again at downloading the original manual pages. Here is the one for acceleration/deceleration (see last posting).

and here is the last part for body movement: (if you can't read the tables, give me a shout and I'll reproduce them with Ability Office as I did previously).

And finally, it may be unreadable but this is the first page that covered cornering (steering wheel movement, see my first posting). It will at least show the shape of the graph:
