Slightly rough running on cold start up

Post by Nuneatonrob »

Hi guys, me again!

I was just wondering if my car is giving me a precursor to a more major fault at some point in the future.

Basically, when i start it from cold, it ticks over smoothly enough, but the revs do seem to go up and down some what, and if i leave it ticking over for a couple of minutes, while say putting a destination into my sat nav, it sometimes almost goes to stall. It never actually stalls, just the revs drop then pick up again, and so on.

It ticks over fine and dandy when it's warm.

Is this something I should be worrying about, or just leave it alone kind of thing?

Cheers,

Rob

Have you had the fuel filter changed lately??

Could the top / seal not be sat properly, sounds like a fuel problem, but the lift pump in the tank is just getting fuel up intime to keep her going?...

Possibly?? Not had much with the HDi engines yet...

I haven't changed the fuel filter as yet. It's one of the jobs I have been meaning to do. I was going to replace the whole canister, as I have read on here that any contamination can do a lot of damage to the HP pump.

I need to get it done really. I have had the car since it had 90K on the clock, and it's now just hit 100K, so needs to be done now I guess.

I replaced the fuel lift pump a couple of months ago, to that is virtually brand new.
