Switched feeds

Post by MikeT »

Are there any switched feeds under the bonnet (engine bay fuses/relays for instance) that I can tap into? i.e Will be open circuit if the ignition is off or the engine is not running. Preferably high current but not essential.

Sounds like just the ticket - these are constantly live while the ignition is on or just while the glowplugs/timer are active?

Am I right in thinking the fuel cut off solenoid also has a permanent ignition-switched live?

What am I doing wrong? Using a multitmeter, I check for voltage with the ignition at StageII and when I find one, I turn the ignition off but they all stay live. I've gone through all the fuse terminals in the engine bay and can't find one ignition switched.
Is it my testing method?
Where is the glowplug relay timer switched feed please?
The fuel cut-off solenoid has exposed wiring outside the pump, couldn't I tap that?

I'm sorted for switched lives inside the passenger compartment, under the centre console.

IIRC all the fuses in the engine bay are NOT switched.
They are constantly live.
Thats why they are located right there anyway.

You've got to tap one of the fuses from the fusebox inside ...

one of the wires of the multi plug on the glow plug timer is a switched feed, i cant remember which one, if you pull this plug off of the timer box and turn the ignition on, one of the terminals will a switched live
