MOT test

Post by DBAKER1980 »

hello,
iwas just after a bit of advice (again).
my k reg 405 1.9i petrol is burning oil at the moment. the exhaust fumes are slightly blue, but not huge clouds of smoke or anything. is it likely to fail the mot in a few weeks, or could it still pass?
Oh, and what is it most likely to be on this car? it came on quite suddenly after running low on oil a few months ago.(durr)! my fault i know!
cheers,
darren.

Hi Darren.... providing your smoke isnt making things invisible for other motorists -- you wont fail the mot on that... its emmissions - co hc's etc are what the mot is looking at. I wouldnt know whats caused it from what you describe as to the onset.. but it may be worth giving the engine a flush and some oil seal additives - just in case its just hardening valve stem seals.. a good seall restorer should cure that.... and every other seal at the same time! mike
