Actually my second car, after a dismal VW Polo...it was a lemon

The amazing.....

Renault 9.

I still remember picking up a girl for a date in it.....her parents asked her after the date..."so what car does he drive then"?..the answer....."i dont know, all i know is it was blue"

Great car though....i ran it for about a week with no coolant in it (not on purpose of course) and it didnt even cook itself or the headgasket....

Only realised something was wrong because the temp needle was violently flicking from high to low when you drove the thing. Topped it back up and hey presto all was well

Dad got run over by a big dumper truck in one of those on xmas day out in saudi.

I had one of those - except it was an R11 TXE.

An insane car - up to the ears in electronics including a voice synthesiser that nagged the hell out of you - and saved me from a drink-driving ban, for which I am eternally grateful, never touch a drop when I am likely to drive but that night was an exception, and an exceptional night in many other ways.

It used to belong to a Newcastle striker and his sister lived in the next street. The kids would all flock to it for his autograph whenever he turned up (apparently - I never saw him and wouldn't have known the difference).
When I bought it the kids would come flocking then as I alighted would moan "Ugh - who's this geezer" and disappear

I see what you mean about the nagging.

Where's the gaffer tape?

The car certainly likes to talk to the driver.

Was this Renaults attempt to compete with the digital BX?

In this advert take a look at the fuel pumps at the point 18 seconds into the advert, and look at the deliberate mistake.

As the "face" on each pump has a shape that should have had more curvature, as they look like 1/2 a Citroen badge on each one!
