Xsara bonnet release catch

The bonnet release catch won't turn on my wifes Xsara (non Picasso).
The release mechanism inside the car is OK, just the one under the bonnet that won't turn.

Anyone with an early Xsara (1999) could give me any advice or send picture or diagram?

Try a workout on the bonnet giving the catch mechanism some motion.

Have your wife pulling the in-car release handle, while you firmly press down and release the bonnet repeatedly.
Should not be that much effort needed.
Make sure you apply hand pressure such you dont dent the bonnet bodywork !

PS : make sure to lube the mechanism once it opens
