Hi All
Taken in a Xantia TD 1993 L reg WITH ANTI Sink, 208k and in amazing condition for the miles however, with recent spheres fitted all round (by myself too) the rear arm has developed a VERY VERY nosy rear arm when you bounce the back up and down, couple of weeks ago it had a VERY loud CLICK from the rear, then a day or so later it went, now it has got a VERY VERY loud sqeaking from the same arm..
Ive bought it in VERY cheap now as a part ex, its Tax till JAN 2010 and also MOT till FEB I think, or possibly December..
Does anyone have a spare arm for a Bearing kit to be fitted, or even a pair of arms, Im worried incase theres damage to the ARM itself as well as disintigrated bearings...
Thoughts.... Cheers...
Paul

you can get away with some damage to the arm, as long as it is only were the seal sits which is the usual, i would remove the arm and knock out the pivot tube and bearing remains, then put a bead of mig at two opposite sides of the inner race to firstly give you something to drift the bearing race out by, and secondly it will heat it up which helps getting it out,
now inspect the points in the arm the outer race seats in

Thats an interesting point about migging the races, I can for the first time do that because I have finally got a Mig!!
Thanks Malc, I will give it a go as long as everything else comes apart ok.. Not looking forward to the Strut pin, guess the drilling out tip will have to happen, and try a bigger pin after, I realise its just to hold the strut ram into the arm to stop it falling out...
Regards
Paul

i very seldom have trouble pulling the spring clip/pin out of the arm, 99% of the time they come out intact, i always put a big dob of grease in the socket on the aem were the push rod cup fits in on reasembly,
i also usualy leave the inner half of each rear calliper hanging on its pipe, just in case the pipe nut dont undo
