For the third time in 4 months the alternator on my TurboCT failed. Its a Mitsubishi unit.
Anybody have one I can buy from? This one seems jinxed... two regulator failures and now a diode bridge failure.
Related question, anybody have the part number or the page from the parts catalog to try and find it on ebay?

The diode bridge is generally a simple job to fix but I suspect some other fault is causing the failures. Clogzz will likely have a better idea of what this may be.
Any auto electrician should be able to replace the diodes in half an hour (alternator on the bench, not in the car)
Are you sure your battery is completely OK?
Haven't any part numbers for you though, sorry.

I am in Santiago, Chile. I've bought from sellers in ebay.uk and Royal Mail gets to me in about a week. Not cheap, but cheaper than buying down here from the only Citroen dealer.citronut wrote:i have a brand new genuine pug alternator which also fits various citroens,
the part No. is 5705.2Q,
if you check/fin out your specific alternator for a match,
if it dose i would like 50 squid + carridge for this one
were abouts are you
regards malcolm
Let me take some pictures of the alternator. I can't beleive this is the only car this alternator fits.... I know its not the same as the 2.0 Xantia I have (that is a Valeo unit I can find for US$100 locally, mine is US$800)

We get the same problem here with expensive main dealer prices!

Thanks Steve, I’ll try to make sense of this one.myglaren wrote:Clogzz will
The Mitsubishi alternators go intermittent in the stator windings, and cannot be helped.
They can’t be ‘rebuilt’, or ‘exchanged’, or reconditioned, because all they can do is to replace the bearings and brushes, and clean the collector.
All that can be done is to look into Malcolm’s offer, or to get an auto electrician to improvise with a different alternator.

Would yours fit? If it does I would buy it in a heartbeat.

I found a Valeo unit that fits in a breaker in the next city (70 miles)... US$50... it was on a 406 1.8 16V. Its being shipped to me right now. Tomorrow will report.ekaftan wrote:

Citroen rep said it was exclusive to the TurboCT. Its the same as at least 20 Citroens and another 20 Peugeots, and the same part number (5075.S4) can be a Valeo, a Bosch or a Mitsubishi unit.

Update... alternator is in place. It was MUCH larger and MUCH heavier than the Mistu unit. I had to remove the right headlight to be able to move the air hose from the intercooler to the throttle just to shoehorn it in place. Once in place though, it fits perfectly and looks a lot like the one in the parts catalog image.ekaftan wrote:ekaftan wrote: I found a Valeo unit that fits in a breaker in the next city (70 miles)...
