C5 OBD Scanner

Have obtained a copy of Lexia and have other OBD software. Have tried to connect to the port in the glove box (this is the correct place?) but no joy. Have also tried on another car (Chevrolet Matiz 06 reg) and again nothing so I assume my reader is dead

My C5 is a 1.8LX 52 plate so I assume my car is OBDII compliant

or is it. Do I need a special cable for the Lexia software to run or do I just by a new USB OSB cable.

Please help

The Lexia software will only work with a Lexia interface.

Your car should be OBD compliant but I'm under the impression that during the 'early' years it was very hit and miss. Don't forget that the manufacturers were forced into providing such a standard.

A Lexia 'cable' will cost somewhere from £400 to £1000 depending if it is genuine or a clone.

You don't say what kind of interface you have used to attempt to read the codes. Maybe a cheap all in one scanner what have been better depending on what information you need. Also bear in mind that OBD codes are generic in nature and will oftern give only a very rough idea where to start the diagnosis from whereas dealer tools (Lexia, actia, etc.) give specific codes and live data.

That would be no good, all the suff in that auction is adaptors for older models & Fiat based citroens. You would still need the proper comunication interface first.

Hi Guys and thanks for the information.

Originally my plan was to replace my broken citroen radio and replace with another and re-code myself. At present it has a non standard unit in it, there is no sound from the original unit.

I have tried a plug in code reader just to see if there where any faults but this unit failed to register (as if no power was going to it) I then tried a computer connection using a standard obd connector to a serial lead using scan soft. This failed to work in both cars. Incidently not tried the hand held scanner in the Chevrolet but did work on my Xantia and Xsara in the past (sort of)

As the cable is completely out of my price range I would now just like to check any error codes and condition of my car, any ideas?
