bonnet release

Hi my son has just snapped the release cable on his 406 1.9hdi how can he get the bonnet open to fix it . regards John.

Better late than never.
My 98 406 has two catches and on one the cable detached. It's difficult to explain, but if they are the same as mine you should be able to release it. I looked at the mechanism on a neighbours 406 and using a long flat blade screwdriver and torch you can just get at the catch through the front of the grill to release it.

Did P.S.A. save some money here, and use the same mechanism on the 406, and the Xantia?
