V6 Xantia idle speed control valve?

Very occasionally, the newly purchased v6 Xantia stalls at idle or slow speed
and it's a real hassle restarting with the autobox! I've been led to believe there's
an idle speed control valve that can be removed and cleaned up of any carbon
build up that will aid matters. Does anyone have a piccy or a description of
where I may find this as I'm unable to access the citroen.service site either!?

Its under the throttle butterfly so you'll have to remove the air filter, look for a aluminum cylinder with a couple of black rubber hoses and a electric connection plug running into it.

When I had mine to pieces I noticed that the air hoses were very slack so you might find there is an air leak, could be worth a couple of new jubilee clips.

Unless I have my wires crossed, this is the car with the dead transmission?

If so, maybe you needent worry too much. My mk2 V6 stumbled and stalled a few times after it was sat for a few months (including battery going flat a couple of times), but after a couple of runs, the idle settled down nicely. Maybe the ECU learns bad habits if the car is not driven in a normal manner?

Hopefully if this weekend goes to plan, the transmission will be on it's way to being fixed

Although I've not gone through it yet and cannot because mine is in bits, there apepars to be a diagnostic procedure to be run on the Lexia to ensure the throttle butterfly is completely closed at idle and that at mid and full-open positions the ECU sees the proper signals from the butterfly. Certainly, my experience on other PSA petrols is that it is vital the butterfly is completely closed at idle for the idle regulator to work properly. Check the throttle cable and cruise control vacuum actuator is allowing the butterfly to fully close at idle.

That is indeed the case

Like the autobox ECU, it's adaptive and if the battery has been off for a period, it has to re-learn from scratch.
