Code

Post by ACTIVE8 »

If an Xantia OE fitment double din factory fit head unit has had the code entered, and if it were to be entered wrong I.E in a hurry, as the head unit is now not showing code, and just the four ---- lines.

How long would you have to wait before entering the code again, if the radio is left on waiting for the code prompt ?

I have left it on with the ignition on, while working on the car, which were a few job(s), and found it didn't count down during these job(s).

Note the code was only entered once, with probably one digit entered wrong.

Just been reading my daughter's Saab handbook and the radio uses a similar setting system.
If you enter an incorrect code, press all four setting buttons to simultaneously to clear the code. Might work :D

IIRC and its a S2 model with a Clarion you need to press the band button to bring up code, the info is in the handbook.

There's been loads discussed a few weeks back on this now so try a search.

The four ---- signify 3 incorrect code entries so you may have a fault
beyond the usual operation of the radio if it just had one wrong entry
trip it. I seem to recall it needs anywhere from 20-30 minutes up to an
hour if being powered on to unlock again but this is for Xm radios...

Assuming it's the same radio as mine, a few points to be aware of;
The radio fuse in the fusebox has two positions allowing the radio to be on with or without the ignition key.
Code lockout countdown resets if you turn off the radio.

My solution was to set the fuse to allow the radio to have power without the ignition key. Turn on radio, press and hold BND button until dashes appear then lock the car and go do something else for an hour or two. Check back occasionally, press and hold the BND button and see if CODE comes up
