Interior lights

Post by Brigsygtt »

My interior lights are intermittent, sometimes they work with unlocking, sometimes with the door, sometimes not at all like tonight. Highly annoying when im using the car in the dark. Can anybody advise on how to fix this, i initially thought it may be the door plunger switches but not so sure now.

This'll be a help Brigsygtt..

Here's the Circuit of the interior lights.

You'll find the magic box (item 6235) that does the slow dim-down under the rear of the centre console. It's part of the central locking ECU.

The door plungers are Items 3000 - 3003.

The other thing to check is that the bulbholders are clean and good in the lights themelves. Do they work normally on the switches? The switches can occasionally cause your problem too...

Its unlikely that all four door switches have gone faulty, presumably you have tried another door. Sounds like a poor connection somewhere. Does it switch on with the dashboard switch?. On the XM all the switch functions are controlled by a module under the dash, if yours is the same, could be a faulty unit or the plug/s connecting it.

We must have some sort of telepathy going on between us Peter  Must be the common love of the 2.1TD that does it....

Sorted it, plunger switch on drivers side needed attention, also re tensioned all the contacts on the bulbs & seem to be working ok again. :D
