xsara 2000 2.0hdi coolant leak

Post by simonelsey »

Hi all not posted for years as been a good car . But today had sensor say header tank empty . FIlled up ok, checked the car ,small pin hole in the core plug just under thermastat housing , right hand of engine , about the size of a pin hole . Went to garage (castleman garge hastings) been very helpful . Got a qoute from citroen , but requres whole assembly for £120 , Garage filled core plug with chemical metal is this good enough for long term fix , Or are citroen having a laugh with having to buy whole assembly to fix a simple problem

You should be able to buy replacement core plugs. It is years since I have bought any but they used to be very cheap and easy to get.

Try giving GSF and Eurocarparts a ring, they may do them. Alternatively an engine rebuilding factory - British Engines springs to mind, that may be able to supply or advise further.
