607 anti pollution warning

Post by f00lzz »

Hi Guys

Just bought a 607 2.2 HDI at auction 51 plate with 85k.. Display shows ''engine anti-pollution system defective'' I'm hoping this means the fluid/particulate service is due. If it is i'm alright cos the car was cheap as chips and it will be worth doing .... if it isn't and it is something more sinister I may put it back through the auction and let one of you guys have the hassle :D

Cheers

I'm sure I will be corrected, but I'm led to belive its a fairly generic message to do with fuel/exhaust systems. I had the same message on my 1007 petrol when it had a problem with I think the air meter. The diag socket will tell all when connected up to a suitable computer. The car may go in to 'limp' home mode.

Hmm that costs money :( I was hoping it was the pollution 'service'.. judging by the mileage it is due for a cambelt change and possibly a Eoluy (or whatever it's called called) top up.. Cheers for replying

Spot on, it basicaly means engine management light as just about every sensor failure would be classed as affecting the emissions.

if it is you atipolution system requires a service/top up, depends on the year of your car to weather you have Eoluy or the later type of fluid in the system, you must not use the wrong type,

also i belive the early cars have a tank float to indicate the amount of fluid left, and the later cars have an electronic counter,

the early car it is ok to just add fluid but if its the later car it has to have the system reset on the likes of a DIAG/LEXIA

my local pug dealer parts manager tells me they have found it it also best to replce a sensoid refill, other wise thew light can keep comming back on,

you are also ment to replace or clean the paticulate filter in the exhaust system

All fixed.. It needed that Eoluy fluid replenishing... 5ltrs £90.0 plus £30.0 for diagnosing and re-setting.
