Clio non start problems?

Unread post by ppitstop »

Hi there, i have a 1.2 16V clio 2001 with the D4F engine, it was running o.k until before xmas, then i left it 2 months and now it wont start, i was wondering whether anyone had any suggestions on how to get it to start?
I have tried cleaning the battery terminals and earths, i have replaced spark plugs, i have replaced the crank shaft sensor, basically it turns over but never starts, i tested the output with a volt meter and there is no power getting to the plugs or coil pack? i have even done a diagnostic test which is coming up as UCH fault but im not convinced by this? Its almost like the immobiliser is cutting in? BUT on the dash the immobiliser light does not flash it stays solid red when cranking? ... ive not had the car long, but looks like a new key as if the previous owner has tried that? Any help would be gratefully received, thanks in advance

Me again!!
today i checked all the relays, they are all o.k, someone has suggested the black box and wires give trouble, so i had alook at this, a couple of wires are slightly worn, but not down to wire i dont think, and now i have also removed ECU, as someone has also suggested dry solder joints can cause problems, has anyone had any experience of this? please help?

I'm afraid to say that it sounds like an UCH fault to me, meaning the immobiliser isn't disarming.

was your crank sensor a genuine Renault part ?.....if not, waste of time and money, sometimes the problem is the connector on the loom, which if you buy a genuine one they will sell you a new connnector aswell
