Simple question. Is there one that works?

I actually find that the stuff from Halfrauds works well. (I know! Shock Horror!!)

They do two types: a standard blue one and what they call a premium one which is pink. I use the pink stuff and it works well. The premium stuff is only £1 more than the standard stuff. It comes in 5 litre tubs

They usually have offers on it too - buy one get one free, three for two.

Note that for the C5 it is advised to only use genuine Ctroen screenwash as others are known to degrade the pump.

During the summer, when there's plenty of bug splat, I find pouring in a bottle of windex stuff along with the normal mix of screenwash usually does the trick.

Every one I try just floats on top of the water and comes out as a sludge. At least it lets me know when the bottle is nearly empty.

I'll try the Halfords stuff and the Citroen stuff and see how I get on.

I haven't ever seen that. Could your washer system be contaminated with LHM or oil?

I have to admit to not using the Citroen stuff personally as the car was bought second hand and it is unlikely that the rep that drove it would ever bother with it and I only discovered that fairly recently after chucking ASDA washer fluid in it for a year.
My rear screen washer won't work, just sprays the windscreen while wiping the rear screen.
Another job for the warmer weather.
When I change the pump for a new one I'll start using the Citroen stuff .

That's been happening for about 10 years now, on every car I've had. Maybe I'm putting too much in, though I still put far less in than the label tells you to.

Maybe the answer is to go back to what I did when I was skint- just enough to make the water blue.

I usually do the opposite and put loads in, usually 25-35% approx, depending on the weather. Any less and it doesn't seem to clean the screen properly.

Periodically I give the screen a good scrub with either methylated spirits or a dedicated glass cleaner (get that from work).

I have found in the past that if your mix is'nt concentrated enough it goes off and starts to smell really bad, it smells like ammonia.u

The one that I've found to work best is made by Comma, the car's at work use "Auto Care" which smells just like battery acid and smears across the screen as it is used  avoid!
