Anyone tried this ??
I have on stock several BX/CX pumps all with defective bearings.
No problem to find pic's/drawings on the interior pump bits on the web - but has anyone yet seen text/pic's on how to disassemble the pump ??
I guess you need to fabricate a gripping tool to get the exterior cup housing from the pump body - even a second special tool to refit the housing without destroying it. The housing is a press fit over a rubber O-ring - and it's stuck like h....[}:)][}:)][:(][:(]
Disassemble/overhaul the Hyd pump ???

Well, people have tried, but what they end up with is something that does not work too well, or leaks!
Its a bit of a black art.Yes, the bearings are available, as are the seals, but I know someone who was convinced he could recondition his own pump, sadly it leaked LHM as he damaged it during reassembly (so he claimed).
Pumps that are properly reconditioned, well not only do they replace the bearings and seals, they also machine the pistons, so I am told. I have a company that does them for us, and have been reconditioning hydraulic stuff for years, and even they won't let me into their secrets!![:(]

FWIW, I reckon a lot of heat & cold is used in dismantling & assembling a lot of Cit bits.
I base this on the time I had a CX water pump that was leaking & was given access to a machine shop with a fair amount of fancy gear in it & found that although this type were supposedly irrepairable, heating certain items whilst cooling others caused many things to fall apart that would have been destroyed had a press been used.
When you think about it, the measurement of "one micron" appears regularly in Citroen engineering processes which is an extremely small tolerance in anyones language and not one likely to take kindly to the use of brute force.
I still have the pump on the CX, but I have to admit, it was a fairly touchy job that is best done when one is stone cold sober with no phones or distractions and in a very good frame of mind. [:D][:D]
