Scenic "electronic fault"

Unread post by boardandy »

My scenic has a "electronic fault" message and service light come on every now and again. Also when the lights are on the brake lights stay on rather than the tail lights. I think the two are connected as I can't recall seeing the fault message with the lights off but am not sure. Has anybody got any ideas what might be the cause?

I've cracked it.

One of the tail lights had the wrong type bulb fitted, the pins on the bulb should be 180 degress out but the bulb was fitted they were at a different angle. I think this caused the terminal on the bulb to touch the tail light and the break light terminals causing the break lights to come on when with the tail lights

C5s, and possibly others are known to have this "feature".
Trips the onboard computers up too, throws up all sorts of spurious faults.
