Would it be possible to graft a diesel engine onto an auto box?
My M8 has got a 309 1.6 auto, and he wants to know if he / we (roped in again) could fit a diesel engine to his car. I know there will be a bit of wiring to change, and the fuel tank will need a return added if there isn’t one already, the throttle cable will have to be connected to the box for kick down operation and maybe the engine mounts may need moved or something. But apart from that what I need to know is will the engine and box mate up, and more importantly will it work.
I don’t know if Peugeot ever made a diesel auto, but Citroen made a ZX auto so technically it is possible.
He’s thinking of buying an MOT failure for the engine donation so he would have all the parts needed at hand.
