It went off a couple of days ago, I sent Noz an email, didn't hear anything but it was back on again the next time I tried.

I can still get this to boot up:

Peter's right, I had the same thing happen a couple of days ago, exactly the same message appeared, but the forum came back shortly after. I didn't mention it as I thought it might be a fault at my end.

I notice the guestbook is out too.

Do you think the owner pulled the plug?

Has anyone followed the email trail to the board administrator? Noz? Chris? I didn't because I assumed he (they) would be snowed under.

I do hope this is only a temporary glitch, I feel I've made so many friends through the forum although I've actually only met face-to-face with about five members.

If he's anything like me, I expect that at this very minute he's pulling his hair out and woring feverishly to bring the board back up. The couple of times the FCF and BXC has died I've pulled out every stop I could to get service back ASAP. Sometimes it's a problem beyond us Admins. If the ISP has problems or the (hosted) server has thrown it's teddies, there's precious little to do until the ISP pull their finger out. So frustrating as there's no way of letting the members know what's going on. Looking at said forum, he has a database problem   They can be nasty. I just hope he is like me and totally paranoid about having backups as in this case the database seems to be somewhat AWOL :(

Absolutly. I think it goes for many of us on here and the BXC. Not least me. These forums demonstrate the very, very positive and very good side of the Internet.

No, no worries there. the host is still running. It's just the Invision side that's down with database issues.

Had the plug been pulled, the website would have gone too...

I sent an email to 'webmaster@club-xm.com', I didn't address it to anyone in particular as I'm not sure if it goes to Noz or Chris. I haven't had a reply.

I hope we do get the forum back as it was the other members that kept my cars going.......you don't realise what you've got until it's gone.

The Citroen owners club forum has an XM section, so I might start using that, for the time being.

Been a day offline now.

Being Devil's Advocate for a minute, what would be the likelihood of the existing php database getting corrupted and no backup to go back to?

As I understand things, the owner, Chris Light has maintained the forum
the last 5 years wihout direct involvement but for the daily practicalities
of admin do Noz Xmexec have involvement to the level of back up or
database protection - there's a hell of a lot of hard data and insight on
just one model that would be lost if there is no fall back...

Hello fellow refugees :(

I suspect a technical hitch somewhere. Just hope its not anything to do with those bots we had on the other week. I think Noz has got backup. That message on the front page refers to the last time it was down a couple of years ago.
