Hi all
I have my 405 td estate (240,000 fsh) in garage and they are baffled!
The front cooling fans are coming on from switching on ignition and stay on.
After investigation and chat with Peugeot the EC module was replaced "it's always that that goes" and after replacing problem still there.
Sensors on thermostat have been checked, aircon is u/s as hole in condensor radiator at front so gas gone which has been the case for 2 years.
Also relays have been checked and tested they are OK.
Any suggestions?
A circuit diagram would help too!
Thanks
Kevin

The following link has the wiring diagram, I understand that a 405 uses the same circuit http://www.peugeotlogic.com/workshop/ws ... fanop1.htm

i have the same problem it is almost certainly a bad earth for the time being i have removed the right hand relay so the fans are not working A very clever aquaintance of mine says this is perfectly acceptable as long as you keep an eye on the temp ,to cool the car down you simply put the heater on full tilt with max fan and open the front windows slightly this actually is a more effieicent than the rad!
This may be a clue from the link DickieG gave
From the high speed operation description
— High Speed Operation —
Condition for high speed call
The high fan speed is called for:
1. When the engine temperature reaches 107°C.
2. When the A/C refrigerant high pressure threshold is reached.
3. When the temperature sensor circuit goes faulty. (open circuit)
Point 3. inetermittent sensor fault or faulty wiring?? connections ok?

Hi all
Thanks for responses the diagrams were great help although not exactly the same as 405.
Problem resolved!
How?, all wires connections checked etc. even removed centre console to check aircon bits. EC Controller replaced and although relays all checked for operation they were swopped over and problem resolved but all relays have been replaced with new and problem was probably within ecu and relays plus age of them didn't help.
Anyway long run etc. have no problems other than airbag light on steering wheel flashes intermittently, suggestions?
Many Thanks
Kevin
