Hi,
This is my first post here, I hope some of you could be so kind to help me.
I have a 51 please renault clio 1.2 8v (D7F), the head gasked blew between pistons 2 & 3 so I changed it this weekend. Now, when I start the car in idles initially after firing up and then cuts out between 5-10 seconds later. If I try to start the car with any amount of the accelerator peddle pressed down, it will not start at all. If I start the car up with no peddle it idles, but dies off as I said ealier. If I try to press the accelerator peddle whilst the engine briefly idles, it cuts out immediately.
I have checked the cam timing, that's good, I think! I am at a bit of a loss now, really not sure what else to check, any ideas anyone ?
Clio 1.2 8v after head gasked change, starts but cut's out.

Welcome to the forums, I hope we can be of help to you.
My first guess
Sounds like a fueling problem, either a restriction in the fuel supply or an air leak. Check the tightness of all the manifold joints and the fuel supply pipes to the injectors.
Alternatively the timing could be slightly out. Injectors firing slightly too soon or too late.
Someone more knowledgeable will likely be along soon to turn my theories on their head though.

I'd say its a fuelling problem.
With ignition off, unplug the fuel supply line to the throttle housing.
Lead the fuel hose into a clear bottle and now set ignition on (do not try start the engine).
You should have a good solid spurt of fuel for some 2seconds.
After some 2 seconds the engine management computer shuts down the relay for the pump power - for safety reasons - when engine is not running.
If you have good fuel supply, then go for any vacuum advance device - or MAP sensor.
This may simply have lost a small diameter vacuum hose during your work.
- or an electric connection is missing.
