How Easy is it To Change Xantia HDI Belt tensioner?

Post by wrinklet1 »

Hi,
How Easy is it To Change Xantia HDI Belt tensioner for the aux belt?
The one on my Xantia HDI sx 90bhp has apparently knackered up. A squeeling sound came from around that area and the aux belt doesnt seem very tight, well not like it would be if it had manual adjustment.
So.... I have a new tensioner from GSF £21+vat and to me it looks like a simple job, - take tension off belt, lock old tensioner, undo and remove bolt and old part. Clean area, and refit ensuring the lug goes into the hole, bolt back in the then pull locking pin out....... Yes, NO or what????

Ok, job done.
Quite easy really, went as planned but having a wire coathanger to use as a locking pin was a help too and a cut off allen key to undo the allen bolt holding the auto tensioner to the block.

Hi Paul,
good job!

And is the squeeling gone? At what mileage did that happen?

Hi, the squeeling has gone and the mileage was 100,000miles.

Fairly easy to do, but a blind job too
