Have a search around on here for the "Xac Special" tool that can be made very easily and cheaply Vince. Basically it's a lenght of square tube and a length of threaded studding bent into a hoop. The studding goes round the sphere and the ends bolt up through holes in the tube. The threads over the lenght of the studding improves the grip it has on the sphere.

That'll do all spheres perfectly well except the rear centre Hydractive. Due to the tight location the only tool I know that will reliably shift one is the Pleiades tool.

If you're going to buy one, the Pleiades one is excellent and the only one to have. I fear the one you posted Ross, will still fail to shift a rear Hydractive due to the protruding bolt and having no angle to it.

True. I never thought of the hydractive sphere, not being hydractive-endowed...

Must be why that guy sells a dome-shaped version which fits on a 1/2" ratchet.

I've never seen the Pleaides tool - I tried having a look at the online store on the Pleaides website but it refuses to load with an error about the security certificate.

Vince, I've only ever changed one sphere in my life. I used an oil filter removal tool.
