Hi there team,
Does anybody know a good source for replacement seals for my diesel injection pump. It looks as if I will have to do an overhaul on mine.

Yes,
Either Merlin or this Outfit who sell bits for VWs. The seal kit is the same and these come in at a very, very good price.
I'm sure you've seen my website that deals with the subject Kenny.

Thanks for the reply Jim,
I knew i saw it somewhere
There maybe some good news on the pump front, a specialist in Fife thinks it could be the electric module attached to /in the pump which is the problem.
I will keep everybody updated.

Hi Gang,
Looking for some thoughts on the following:
Could the wiring in the starting up process for the pump cause the no starting problem?
My reasoning is as follows:
2 wires had been cut by person/s u/k from the 3 pugs which fit onto the ignition barrel(Black, brown and grey)
As i am going to start checking the wiring from these plugs for a live feed.
Any thoughts or suggestions
Kenny

Hi Kenny,
Possibly. Basically as long as the pump stop solenoid becomes energised via the keypad/immobiliser, it will start and run. The ECU can be totally dead and it will still run (badly).
The immobiliser is totally separate to the ECU so if that has power and unlocks successfully then the engine should run.
Have a look at the XUD9 Wiring Diagram Here for the various feeds to the ECU and immobiliser/keypad and how they relate to the ignition switch.
The item numbers in the diagram can be cross-referenced to the comprehensive list in the BoL.
EDIT: Kenny, I see it's a MK2 so it might not have the keypad. In which case the immobiliser works differently. I'll see if I have the diagram for the MK2 and have a look. The one I posted is only relevant to the MK1 with a keypad.

Kenny,
Just in case you need it...
Here is the MK2 Injection Wiring Diagram with the RFID (Chipped Key) immobiliser.
Worryingly, looking at the diagram, it appears not massively hard to defeat the immobiliser totally. Much easier than on the MK1 with the keypad. Now there's progress for you!

Another question re the wiring diagram,
Where is the double multifunction relay located described in the diagram?

Down beside the ECU normally, in the ECU box. It's a long brown thing often made by Bitron. There should be a smaller relay alongside too.KennyW wrote: Where is the double multifunction relay located described in the diagram?

That's the case for a MK1. I have never closely looked at a MK2 but cannot imagine it being a lot different.

Thanks JIm for the reply,
The relay was exactly where you said along with the other one which i think is injection supply relay.
I tested the supply to the relay fine 12V as expected Nos 11, 8, 15 as per diagram, switched the igniton on to the start poistion and 12 V supplies were received at the black plug no's 1 and 3 which connects to the stop solenoid and the advance electrovalve no's 1 & 3.
Therefore there is a voltage supply to the solenoid which means there are no problems with the electrics.
It appears the problem may lie with the fuel supply and air ingress. Will change the supply line with clear tubing watch for bubbles.
