Hi all,
I'm new to the forum but I'm sure I'll be popping on here now and then. My girlfriend has a Citoen ZX 3DR. The drivers side manual window regulator has broke and I've been trying to find a replacement for a while now. Havn't seen any 3DR ZXs being broken up at all only 5DR. The only regulators I can find are LH ones. Other than that there is the dealer for their extortionate prices.
The idea I had though, was to buy one of the LH ones that I have found. Take the metal sliding rail off it and put the RH side one on there instead, to see if I could get the LH regulator working for the RH. Would mean it would be back to front in terms of winding but that dosn't matter. Anybody reckon this could work?
Also if anyone does have a RH manual window regulator for sale, I would be most gratefull.
Thanks,
Kyle.

ZX window regulator.
Kyle,
If you can't find a replacement (the easiest option) take a look at this.
I've just repaired a manual (NSR) regulator by using an old bike brake cable. The guage of this was a tad thinner than the original, but I thought it worth a try. You could get the RH one & cannibalise it to fit - at the worst reusing the cables to rewind on your original drum.
It is likely that one of the cables has snapped - unlucky to have both go? The lower of mine was rusted through.
The cables wind, in opposite directions round a drum. This is a bit fiddly to restore, but doable.
I've put a pic at: http://www.spidery.force9.co.uk/images/ ... 20lite.jpg.
My guess is that the plastic body is not handed, so you could take it off the metal bracket swap it with your dead one. Presumably winding will be reversed as you suspect.
You have to bend back a few metal lugs to get at the innards & recrimp with a mole grip or whatever.
I cut the cable to length, against the original, leaving the original nipple in place.
To make the nipple at the other end I took a small nut & crushed it in a vice, then ground it down to fit the drum.
Cheers
Jonathan

If Stupidity got us into this mess, then why can’t it get us out?

Cheers mate
I was thinking of doing a brake cable, I'm into bikes alot. Wasn't sure if the thinner guage would do, thinking on it if it can withstand the force of someone levering a brake on with all fingers it should be fine lifting a window. I've probabbly got one around somewhere, I'll give it a go.
Thanks again,
Kyle.

Ohh,
Thanks for advice myglaren and citronut.
I've been looking on ebay for a while now, seems only 5 doors coming up all the time. Contacted some local scrappys and not so local french specialist scrappys to no avail.
I may give PCR a ring tommoro, just to see if they have any. I'll still try and bodge one together though, just incase.
Thanks
Kyle.
