ZX 1.4i - SUCCESS!!

Unread post by UserError »

:D :D :D
Thanks to all those who gave info as I re-engined my ZX I have just driven it round the block & all is well. Feels weird though after driving a LWB Movano campervan for the last 3 months - the windscreen is like looking through a letterbox.

I can move onto the niggles now....

Cheers
Jonathan

Glad your getting it sorted.

A tip with the 1.4 ZX, dont hammer it on the motorway for a long while. I did and blew the ignition module...that was years ago and once recovered im sure it cost me £90 to get it back running

ZX Hammering

Cheers Vince.
Do you mean leave it for a while before hammering it on the motorway, or just don't hammer it extendedly? Not that I do anyway, you understand....

Glad you got it sorted :D

I assume Vince means don't hammer it for extended periods.

The 1.4 is a great little engine & it will sit quite comfortably at 70mph on a motorway....but just don't treat it like a racing car & take on them flash BMW's etc, that come up behind you like you shouldn't be there

I'm too old for all that and I like to make my cars last! This engine died of a pre-existing oil problem.

I only bought the car as a stopgap with 6 months T&T. It had a Citroen Main Dealer history which included oil problems but as I said, I only got the car to fill in while I looked for something else- that was nearly 4 years ago.

It is a good little runner and a good "local" car although I wish it had power steering.
