66.28 into 65 *does* go!

Unread post by addo »

I didn't "borrow one" either - I used my own...

The Xantia 65 litre tank can take 66.28 litres of fuel, no worries. That also saw me drive into the service station, no misfiring or rough running prior.

It was my usual pump and vendor; the Weights and Measures people check them often enough so I don't feel there's dishonesty.

Can anyone beat that amount in a Xantia tank?

Cheers, Adam.

BTW, 10.64/100km last tankful in mostly heavy traffic - I reckon for an old-tech 2 litre petrol engine/auto in an estate, that's not too bad. Average mileage over last 12000km is 10.2/100

I've had about 68 before. Some claim about 70. Mind it can't be doing the injectors much good running that low

Mine would always take more than the official tank capacity if brimmed. The connecting hose can take quite a lot of fuel.

The tank gets shaken about quite a bit when you drive the car so there won't be a lot of solids in the dregs, if there is anything nasty in there the fuel filter should catch anything large enough to clog / damage your injectors.

You've seen me in action?

I plan to change the fuel filter again January-ish; 10000km after the "first" (to me) change - last one was four years old guessing by the mfg date, and full of greyish junk in solution/suspension.

Interesting, the tank dropped rapidly today, so I probably didn't try hard enough when filling it.

Cheers, Adam.
