I was wondering if anyone could help me in relation to a problem with the power roof on my 1998 Megane Convertible. Whilst operating the roof using the internal button my stepson, in his intimate wisdom, decided to turn the ignition off, leaving the roof stuck halfway through it's opening motion. It then failed to work at all when turning the ignition back on so I had to continue to open the roof manually to enable me to drive away. The owners manual stated to take the car to a Renault dealer which I did. However the mechanics looking at my car, I could see them from the viewing area, appeared to not have a clue, in fact they managed to get my roof stuck halfway open again for around 15 mins. Eventually they came back to me stating only that the roof mechanism had a leak of hydraulic oil and that they would have to overhaul the whole system costing me about £500!! Surely there must be an easy fix for this problem. Can anyone help please??
