Clic clip nightmare

Unread post by MikeT »

If you've read my posts, you'll know I need two new clic clips to refit the EGR pipe as I deformed the originals on removal.

According to service.citroen.com my car wasn't built with EGR system but I've tracked down the part number for the clips. 1628.3J (item 4 in the diag) which the stealers are asking £8+ for one  Can I get them elsewhere for less?

The new ones are revised and use an allen bolt & nut to make the seal which makes removal and refitting far easier.

You're right, I did fit blanking plates, but they're held in place by the original equipment.

Thanks John. The other alternative is try and reform the old ones which has been unsuccessful so far.

Don't think that would work as the cross section of the clip is C shaped to goe around the lip.

Thanks for the offer John. Malcolm's given me an idea of using a jubilee to close the clic clip and make the seal.

Nightmare over, the originals succumbed to patient bending, rebending and twisting to form a strong enough clasp.

I had a nightmare finding these clic clips so hope this helps someone! Loads of places advertising them on old web pages but when you get in touch don't actually have any and say the company making them has gone out of business. The good news is that I finally found someone else making them but under a different name - EzyClik-M. Managed to get some for under a pound each and they are not quite the same but close enough to not really notice the difference and to work with Clic clip pliers. Quality is just as good as the originals and they look miles better than worm drives or those giant spring things!
Having said that neither of the clips shown as item 4 in the image actually looks like a clic clip!

I have a big box full of these so would be happy to sell some on if anyone else still can't get them.
