master gearbox

hi, hello to all,this is my first time so be gentle.
i have taken the gearbox casing off my1999 master and now i cannot get it back on. the problem seems to be that the slot on the selecter mechanism will not line up with the guide pin no matter where i position the selecter/gears. i have done nothing to ther box other than take the end casing off.
help!!!!!!

ref my gearbox (which is still in pieces!),can anyone tell me if theselecter fork for what i think is 5th gear,( the one on the shortest shaft), is supposed to slide on its shaft or is it fixed?.the reason i ask this is that i cannot see a rollpin but mine is solid and i think it may be the problem

ok,so i have finally realised its a selecter position problem,but how do you configure them?it seems you have to manipulate them as you close the box somehow but you run out of room before the pressed steel body part of the selecter engages on its pin. does anyone have the answer?
