pulling, vibration not balancing

Post by 3ps »

Hi,

I had pulling left and speed related vibrations on my Xantia 1.9TD. I dropped by a specialist for a quite look and he said it wasn't balancing.

This was some time ago and it hasn't fixed itself.

There is also a clunking feel/jerk when I hit/ease off the accelerator.

Any ideas what this could be? I don't have a clue but I would guess driveshaft related. They would have picked up on wishbone damage I would have guessed.

Also, if this definately sounds like driveshafts or whatever could you put a low/medium/high approx repair price on it?

Thanks!

eurocarparts tend to be cheap or you could try ebay there are some shops on there that sell genuine parts very cheap,
a diy is the cheapest way

That could be your lower engine mount donut on the way out. Check to see if the rubber middle has been saturated in oil and is looking distressed. You can also see how well it's doing its job by rocking the engine.

Also check the top engine mount.

would a loose/tilted engine causing pulling and vibrations like wheel balancing?

If badly worn, possibly, although I would look carefully at driveshafts, wishbone bushes and lower swivel joints for the pulling and vibration.
