Damn and Blast...

...and other words to that effect!

Just mentioned the nice windy country roads near me for Activa piloting
to citrojim earlier and then this happens;

with an additional scraping and banging to the bodywork as well as the
instant flat just for good measure!

Goddammit; this;

was thanks to this lying in the road that I somehow didn't see:

Nasty, rusty and very sharp! Dug so far into the tyre it was difficult getting
it off the wheel and the rear bumper didn't look like it took kindly to it
either! :evil: :x :evil:

Near new Michelin too! I think the opposite rear tyre has a slow puncture
too, as it regularly needs feeding more air! Why wasn't it that one? :evil:

It's only moments like this you remember that the wheelbrace thingy that
drops the spare and undoes the wheel bolts was loaned to a pal who had
a flat the other day...

So what's the moral of the story? Don't live out here in the country as
they're out there trying to kill you!? Or, don't have friends or at least don't
be nice to them!? There's a lot of silly irresponsible folk out there that
aren't bothered what falls off the back of a lorry (or tractor?)...

Well, I'd say check you have the complete kit for just such an occurrence,
otherwise you'll end up with an 'interesting' trip home! The tyre was toast,
and with 3 miles to get home and the inevitable rain, I popped the car on
high, put the hazards on and drove carefully home at 25mph. There's
enough 'give' in the ride if the road is OK and you're not trying to drive at
normal speeds, so hooray for clever Citroen suspension! Helps too, that
the wheel that's got the flat isn't an alloy!! :D

Hi Andrew

Well, at least there won't be any dispute about whether the tyre is worth repairing or not! :lol: Sorry about that.

We live right in the country, have to drive over 1/4 mile of flint track to reach the road, and I can't remember the last time I had a puncture - yes I can, it was in Scotland about three years ago! Mind you, hardly anyone is farming here now so bits of implements dont get dropped. The farm where we live is now vinyards and horses.

Wow! :shock: I'm super glad it wasn't collected by a motorcyclist.

What on earth was that Andrew? Looks like an old Trident that Britannia might have once held aloft...

I too thanked Hydropheumatic suspension for helping me avoid a potential disaster yesterday. Details will appear in my blog shortly...

All I know is I'd not like a car without it..

You're not serious? It's the tines of a proper old hayfork.

Xantia brakes helped me out today - a BMW suddenly appeared, overtaking on a blind corner. Where's my hayfork when I need it? :lol:

Regards, Adam.
