After an unsuccessful post in the wants section for a VSX electric N/S door mirror, i have sourced (from local scrappy) a manual mirror from a LX model, what i would like to know ,is it possible to strip the mirror down and transfer the electric innards into the replacement manual mirror, or are there some exclusive Mainstealer tools required to do this task, also are both casings the same internally ?
Thanks in advance Paul...AKA...Fatherjack
P.S. still haven't had enough "daylight time " to sort heater/blower prob, but managed to check fuses for Hydractive prob ,and they seem all ok.
To Citrojim , i'll PM you soon for the circuit diagrams you offered in responce to my 1st post, and see if i can get any further on this..thanks again Paul........

Links to the mirror wiring (both versions are posted at: http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... hp?t=25013 .
It is not clear whether you car has the standard (5 wire) electric mirror or the indexing (10 wire) mirror. I think (but have not needed to try) that the standard electric and indexing use the same casing, but I have never handled a manual mirror.

Don't spend time trying to swap the innards over as the manual and
electric mirror glass mounting armature or main inner 'flag' inside the
plastic shell are totally different to accommodate the electric motors.
Not only that, the colour coded section is a specific shell section on the Vsx.
In reality, you need to buy a colour keyed section if you want to replace
like for like as the two versions you have are TOTALLY different apart
perhaps from sharing the same door mountings and mirror glass.
