renault laguna 1.8 03 plate banging noise

i have recently bought an 03 plate laguna 1.8 90k it seemed fine when driving home but i have noticed that every bump you hit the back suspension bangs like a loud clank metal to metal sound any ideas what this could be and how much it would cost to fix ?

It will more than likely be the rear suspension bushes, these wear on the Laguna & cause a knocking like you describe.

The cost of having them replaced can vary quite a bit depending on the garage doing the job. The back axle has to be completely removed to fit the new bushes, however there is a way round this with a special tool.

Unfortunately not....I haven't had the pleasure

of having to do the rear bushes yet.

I have seen the tools for sale on ebay....must have been bought to do the job then sold on.
